Aluminum Supply Company, Inc.
Aluminum Supply Company, Inc. (ASCO) is a second-generation, family-owned metal supply and fabrication firm headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. Founded by Robert Marshall in 1948, ASCO was originally created to fill a gap in the local market: a one-stop wholesale depot for aluminum building products and architectural accessories at a time when Detroit lacked a dedicated resource of this kind. From that first mission, ASCO has evolved into a respected supplier and fabricator for complex construction, industrial, and manufacturing applications nationwide.
In the post-war industrial boom, Detroit’s rising construction and manufacturing demands outpaced available supply channels for metal products. Robert Marshall recognized an opportunity: instead of piecing together materials from disparate sources, customers needed one reliable partner who could supply architectural metals and build to specification. That insight laid the foundation for ASCO’s longstanding reputation for quality, responsiveness, and technical collaboration.
Over the following decades, ASCO expanded its product breadth and technical capacity, becoming known throughout Southeast Michigan and beyond for metal extrusions, sheet and plate inventory, and precision fabrication services. The company’s success also led to the founding of a sister business — Marshall Sales, Inc. (MSI) — in 1956 to support industrial fasteners and complementary products. Both companies later became part of Marshall Holding Company, formed in 1990 to unify long-term ownership under the Marshall family — a structure that continues today.
At ASCO, we believe that metal supply and metal making are both crafts.
Our mission is simple:
Deliver the right metal — when you need it, how you need it — with the confidence that it will perform.
We achieve this through:
Today’s construction and manufacturing environments demand precision, reliability, and certainty. ASCO is more than a supplier — we are a technical metal partner for high-stakes projects where quality and delivery matter.
Since its founding by Robert Marshall in 1948, Aluminum Supply Company (ASCO) has remained under continuous Marshall family leadership. Today, that legacy is carried forward by his daughter, Nancy Marshall, who rose through the organization from internal operations to sales leadership and now serves as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Nancy represents the evolution of ASCO’s heritage — a hands-on operator who understands every stage of the business, from the shop floor to executive strategy. Her leadership blends the precision of a manufacturer with the discipline of a corporate executive, guiding ASCO into its next generation of growth as a certified women-owned powerhouse.
Under Nancy’s direction, ASCO has advanced its dual focus on operational excellence and workforce development, investing in equipment, technology, and team empowerment. Her approach emphasizes the same principles that define the company’s culture:
Encouraging every team member to take ownership of results and continuous improvement
Aligning departments, disciplines, and divisions under shared goals and mutual respect
Fostering development opportunities that build careers, not just jobs
Nancy’s leadership has been recognized through multiple regional and industry awards celebrating women-owned business achievement and team leadership in manufacturing. She continues to champion ASCO’s commitment to quality, diversity, and community engagement across Southeast Michigan’s industrial landscape.
Headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, ASCO remains proudly local yet nationally capable — a company that embodies the city’s enduring values of craftsmanship, grit, and integrity while serving contractors, fabricators, and manufacturers across the country.
ASCO’s story is one of disciplined growth, technical competence, and unwavering service orientation. Whether your project calls for stocked materials, custom profiles, or complex fabricated assemblies, ASCO brings decades of proven experience to every engagement.
